Usher Greeter Team

As an usher/greeter, members of this team are the first people to interact with and approach visitors. Although not a requirement to serve, people who volunteer for this team generally have friendly, outgoing personalities.

Usher/greeters are people from the team who show visitors around our building, and introduce them to members of the congregation.

These team members display confidence, radiate warmth and have the ability to engage complete strangers in conversation.   Often it is the smile, friendliness and handshake offered by a member of this team that makes a difference in a visitor’s decision to come back to Unity of the Valley.

Time commitment is usually one Sunday per month. On your appointed Sunday morning, the time commitment is approximately one and one half hour.  This means at least one half hour prior to the service, the service itself, and a little time after the service, until the room clears of congregants, to pick up.  As with all the teams, part of the commitment is to be available occasionally for training.

Are you friendly?   Is it easy for you to engage people in conversation? Have people told you about your friendly smile?  If you have answered “Yes” to any of these questions, consider becoming  an usher/greeter.
