VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION – Assistant Teacher

POSITION  

Assistant Teacher

PURPOSE

To teach all children that God loves them. To teach in the classroom (nursery, K.O.U, or Y.O.U)

SCHEDULE

Commitment of one or two Sundays a month. The schedule will be regular (e.g. teaching Unikids the 1st Sunday of every month).

REPORTS TO Youth Education Director

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

·      On teaching Sundays, arrive half an hour (or more) BEFORE church starts to review materials.

·      During service escort Children to the platform for blessing, then to the Social Hall for group Prayer

·      Welcome children with love and enthusiasm, and assist teacher as best you can, using the given lessons/games and projects.

·      At the end of church, connect younger children (under nine) WITH parents, thank parents for bringing children and visit briefly with parents if they’d like to talk, and help clean up the room (wipe counters, put away materials, straighten up).

 

SPECIAL SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

Must like children, should enjoy stories, crafts, games and discussions.  Teachers do not generally have to design lessons. Each group has either a curriculum or a typical order of events.  The Youth Education director will oversee curriculum and lessons for all groups and as well as supplies (so that teachers don’t have to worry about supplies). The suggested crafts, activities and games are not complicated and require no special skills.
