5. A MESSAGE FROM UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY SOCIAL ACTION

Unity World Headquarters CEO James Blake recently made the following statement:

"Do you feel called to take action in support of people of color and to make the world more just?
The first principle of Unity guides us not only to recognize God’s divine presence in ourselves, but to know that God is all there is. No one and nothing is outside of this infinite presence.
The fifth principle of Unity guides us beyond a simple understanding of spiritual teachings. We must put our prayers into action.
We've compiled the following resources to support you in this journey. Every person has sacred worth, and Unity stands with you in making a world that works for all people. This is the force of love and wisdom that underlies all of existence."

Individuals and groups in our congregation are engaging in a variety of social actions:  The Women of Unity support the Solano County Alliance with Fall gifting to a local group addressing issues like voting, registration, climate, those who are disadvantaged by the Earth’s conditions, Black women, women political leaders and Black Lives Matter.  A group comprised is pursuing a Climate Reality position that’s closely connected with the Pachamama Alliance and Operation Drawdown.  Some are utilizing the League of Women Voters to encourage voter registration.  Some individuals are participating in the annual Coastal Cleanup.

These illustrate the avenues that we see Unity of the Valley as a certified EarthCare congregation.  We are joining monthly Zoom Unity Worldwide Ministries EarthCare mentoring meetings to share our activities and receive guidance.

This is not the time to ignore the social action that people of principle and moral values possess to search for what is in the hearts and minds of the people in our country.  The time is now for us at Unity of the Valley Spiritual Center to support our beliefs and principles by taking actions that demonstrate us as a strong spiritual, emotional, physical and social action-oriented body.

If you are inspired to take action that is congruent with Unity principles, contact the office at unityvv@pacbell.net or leave a message at (707) 447-0521.  One of the Social Action Committee members will respond.
